2023 Chicken Butchering Workshop
Join us on October 21st, 2023, for our first ever chicken butchering workshop! Gain hands-on experience processing pastured poultry from our farm to your table.
We are raising Murray’s Big Red Broilers on pasture for this year’s workshop. These chickens will have access to fresh grass and bugs daily in addition to their feed. Pastured poultry is something we are passionate about and we are excited to share it with you!
On the day of the workshop, you will learn how to:
- Kill, scald, and pluck using a chicken plucker
- Clean and eviscerate (gut)
- Prepare the bird for preservation
- Bag the bird for the freezer
- How to turn chicken feet into broth
You will also be sent home with a butchering guide to reference when you raise your own meat chickens, a few recipe cards, and a whole chicken for your own freezer.
